Refugee advisory board coordinator
The CRWB is looking for a Coordinator of the Refugee Advisory Board (RAB). The coordinator will be part of a project that aims to strengthen community mobilization and support refugee leadership by ensuring participation of RAB members in policy development processes that have a direct impact on the well-being of refugee communities with a focus on local integration. It consists of 11 asylum-seekers and refugees and one stateless person from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Yemen. The RAB works under the auspices of UNHCR Bulgaria. The RAB coordinator shall provide organizational support and coordinate the work of Refugee Advisory Board (RAB) through mentoring, supervision and coaching of the RAB members, as a group and individually.
In order to ensure the efficiency and the successful implementation of the objectives set by the RAB, a coordinator within the CRWB will be in charge of the following activities from March to October 2021:
1. Establishes jointly with RAB members internal organizational processes leading to the achievement of its mission and
vision;
2. Supports the update and implementation of a RAB action plan for 2021 jointly with the RAB and UNHCR;
3. Works towards the development and maintenance of an organizational culture and common identity as RAB members
to sustain community mobilization;
4. Organizes group and individual mentoring/coaching sessions to follow-up on progress in process development;
5. Monitors RAB activities and the implementation of the RAB Terms of Reference (ToRs);
6. Maintains regular communication with the RAB members and ensures multilateral communication between the various
stakeholders;
7. Reports to the Chairperson and works in close collaboration with UNHCR under which leadership the RAB is
functioning;
8. Participates in regular multidisciplinary meetings on specific individual cases to improve the quality of communication
and advocacy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced University degree in psychology, social work, social sciences or related studies;
- At least 2-3 years of experience with setting up organizational structures and cultures, community mobilization mechanisms, supervision, mentoring, coaching or any other relevant experience;
- In-depth knowledge on asylum issues, refugee needs, rights/obligations. First-hand experience is an asset.
- General understanding of UNHCR strategic priorities, community based protection and accountability of affected populations policies of the organization.

Fluency in oral and written Bulgarian and English; Arabic or Farsi language is an asset.
