WWF is the

is responsible for leading and to a significant extent implementing WWF’s
efforts to preserve, restore and sustainably manage the natural values of the
Danube-Carpathian ecoregion, which we also call the Green Heart of Europe. With
a team of 160 highly specialised professionals, we are working across political
borders through an ecoregional approach based on model projects, influencing
policy, networking, capacity building, communication and crisis response.
WWF Bulgaria is
seeking to recruit a Regional Project
Coordinator to support the implementation of the "Successful Wildlife
Crime Prosecution in Europe" (SWiPE) project by providing operational and
administrative coordination, management and technical guidance to the project
partners, ensuring achievement of project objectives and delivery of project
deliverables across in close consultation with the national project units, stakeholders
and partners. The SWiPE consortium comprises 13 partners (WWF, Fauna &
Flora International, TRAFFIC, Judicial Academy Croatia and the State Attorney’s
Office of the Republic of Croatia) in 11 countries (EU and non-EU countries)
under the funding of the EU LIFE programme and works with enforcement
authorities and prosecution units to discourage and ultimately reduce wildlife
crime by improving compliance with EU environmental law. The project partners
collaborate closely with a number of European and international organisations
in the project activities’ implementation such as ENPE, EUFJE, UNEP, Birdlife
Europe, OCLAESP as well as with other LIFE projects. With its activities, SWiPE aims to contribute
to increasing the number of successfully prosecuted offences.
Among the objectives of the project is to:
- compile data on wildlife crime in 11 target countries, improve comparison of data across Europe, and contribute to the work of law enforcement officers
- increase awareness, knowledge, and capacity of wildlife crime professionals and to improve national and cross-border governance in relation to wildlife crime investigation and prosecution
- inform relevant national and European level policies
- raise awareness of practitioners as well as the public on wildlife crime
This is a maternity replacement, for a period of 1 year. The selected candidate is expected to start beginning of August 2021.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the virtual project team within WWF, as well as the external project partners, in the process of operational implementation of defined project activities
- Develops, monitors and ensures implementation of yearly activity work plans together with the project team of WWF and the project coordinators of all external partners
- Plans and aligns the work of all project partners in order to ensure that deadlines are kept and timely reported by the project team
- Ensures effective liaison and maintain good communication with regional partners and other stakeholders
- Supports the thorough implementation of all respective activities defined in the work plan, complying with the set quantitative and qualitative standards
- Plans and organises periodic team meetings or meetings with donor monitoring team, manage the process of collecting all necessary data and updates requested in this respect
- Organises and leads team coordination calls
- Organises the planned activities for Bulgaria
- Ensures that donor requirements are met
- Bears responsibility for the quality of donor reports
Requirements:
- Master's degree in the humanities, natural sciences or economics (degree, course work or experience in law will be considered an advantage)
- At least 3 years of professional experience in project management and coordination
- Experience in working with multinational and virtual teams
- Experience in the management of complex projects at national or regional levels
- Experience in administration and coordination of complex processes and project teams
- Experience in managing public funding
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Good multi-cultural and interpersonal skills
- Very good communication and coordination skills
- Proven written, analytical, presentation and reporting skills
- Solution-oriented and supportive attitude
- Resilience
- Very good computer literacy
