Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including France. It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other medical care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care.

MdM France is present in Bulgaria since 2004, in the neighborhood “Nadejda” in Sliven. Through the years, the project evolved, and currently, under the “Environmental health” thematic, the project has two main medical components: “Sexual and reproductive health and rights” and “Mental health and psycho social support”.


In coordination with MdM’s Advocacy officer in Bulgaria and under the validation of the general coordinator of the mission, the Communication Officer is in charge of:
-    organizing the communication of the mission, creating tools, ensuring the animation of a network of actors and create new partnerships.
-    drafting notes and coordinating the circulation of necessary documents with MdM’s partners.
-    organizing trainings and events, participate in events.
-    attending to administrative tasks in Sofia office and support to Administrative coordinator in Sliven office.
-    participating in the repporting and presentation of the activities and research of donors


To participate at the construction of the communication project in collaboration with the local team and the experts in Head Quarters
To conduct internal/external communication work as part of a communication project.
  • Production, draft and adapt digital and multimedia content: writing, photos, videos,
  • visual materials
  • Structure and circulate position papers after validation by the general coordinator.
  • Preparation of communication products (documents, supporting material, videos, etc.)
  • Organization of communication work (events, exhibitions, competitions, seminars,
  • conferences, etc.)
  • Design and draft messages, check the consistency and reliability of information
  • Design, develop and manage communication tools
  • Coordination of events / operations / communication work as part of a broader
  • communication project
  • Provision of support and advice to MdM staff as part of designing and carrying out their
internal and external communication work: choice of supporting materials, help developing content, distribution strategy
  • Communication and distribution of tools and documents after validation by the general coordinator.
  • Management and monitoring service providers
  • Monitoring the budget of a communication project
  • Research of funding and donors including answering calls for proposals in coordination with the general coordinator and head quarters.

The list of missions is not exhaustive and may be changed to reflect developments and specific needs.

  • Use communication and social networks tools (DTP, audiovisual, publishing, etc.)
  • Adapt messages to communication formats and target audiences
  • Manage communication work: budget monitoring, retroplanning, relationships with

  • Work in a team
  • Fluent English and Bulgarian required (C level)

-    Type of contract: 6 months with possibility of extension
-    Rhythm: full-time position with possibility of partial home office
-    Location: Sofia with regular travels to Sliven.
