Youth Project Coordinator

Location: Plovdiv | Type: Civil contract

At Smokinya Foundation, we operate in a VUCA world. The needs of young people change, and we use Agile methodology to stay responsive. We are looking for an accountable, practical youth worker who is just as comfortable holding space for a group as they are managing the project documentation and technicalities that make our impact possible.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

This is a role for someone who wants to see a project through from a blank page to a finished report.
  • You’ll guide young people through non-formal education and ESC mobilities, ensuring they learn and grow in a safe, structured environment.
  • You’ll turn youth initiatives into sprints and tasks. You’ll manage the "backstage" of youth work—meaning you’re okay with 4-5 hour stretches of deep work on a laptop to ensure grants are written and reports are flawless.
  • When a mobility project or local event starts, you are the one ensuring the gears turn. You solve real-time problems on the ground without breaking a sweat.
  • You will mentor ESC volunteers, providing the feedback and rhythm they need to thrive within our organization.
  • You’ll identify new funding opportunities for youth and help us build local and international partnerships.
Who You Are (The Practical Version)
  • You don’t wait for permission to solve a problem. You take ownership of your projects and their results.
  • You are a power user of Google Workspace, Slack, and Canva. You understand that modern youth work requires digital mastery.
  • 2+ years working with youth (NGOs, schools, or informal education). If you know the Erasmus+ and ESC world, that’s a huge plus.
  • You understand (or are ready to learn) how to manage people and projects using Agile principles.
  • You can facilitate a workshop in English and handle administrative tasks in Bulgarian.
  • A degree in Social Work or Education is great, but your ability to connect with youth and deliver project goals is what matters.
What’s In It For You?
  • Civil contract
  • Performance-based bonuses tied to project results.
  • A values-driven culture: We lead with "love, care, and cooperation" but we move with the efficiency of a high-performance team.
  • Opportunities to travel in Bulgaria and abroad for work assignments and training.
  • Regular coaching to help you grow as a professional in the NGO sector.
How to Apply

We want to see your practical impact. Please submit:
  • Your CV
  • A Cover Letter: In your own words tell us about a time you had to handle a "VUCA" situation while working with a group of young people.
Deadline: 15 FEB 2026
Final Selection: 1 MAR 2026
