Operations Assistant

Operations & Project Lead
Location: Plovdiv | Type: Civil contract + Performance Bonuses

We don’t just need a dreamer; we need an architect who is ok to play and to get their hands dirty.

At Smokinya Foundation, we work in a VUCA world. Things change fast, and we use Agile methodology to stay ahead. We are looking for an accountable, practical leader who is just as comfortable managing a complex budget spreadsheet as they are troubleshooting logistics on-site or leading a team meeting.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing
  • You’ll turn big ideas into backlogs and sprints. You’ll oversee project lifecycles from the first brainstorm to the final report.
  • You’ll identify funding, write technical applications, and people and tasks. You need to be "at home" in a laptop-heavy environment for 4-5 hour stretches of deep work.
  • When a training event happens, you ensure the gears turn. This means solving real-time problems, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance.
  • You will coach our team and ESC volunteers. You’ll facilitate the "rhythm" of the office—keeping meetings focused and the culture collaborative.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with international donors and local partners.
  • Who You Are (The Practical Version)
  • You are solution-oriented. When a problem pops up, you fix it rather than just reporting it.
Your mindset and experience
  • You’re a power user of Google Workspace, Slack, and Canva. You don't mind the "screen time" required to get the job done.
  • 2+ years in operations or projects. If you’ve worked in the NGO sector, even better.
  • You understand (or are eager to master) Agile people and project management.
  • You can write a professional proposal in English and negotiate a contract in Bulgarian.
  • A degree in Business or Management is great, but your proven ability to deliver results is what we care about most.
What’s In It For You?
  • Civil contract + performance-based bonuses
  • A workspace that values "love, care, and cooperation" without sacrificing efficiency and professional growth.
  • Training and growth opportunities.
  • Traveling for work assignments in Bulgaria and abroad.
  • Competitive remuneration given the NGO context.

  • Your CV
  • A Cover Letter: In your own words, tell us about a time you solved a complex logistical problem or managed a difficult project.
