About Us:
Medical Solidarity International Association is committed to providing quality medical
support to vulnerable populations. Our current project in Varna provides assistance to
Ukranian refugees living along the Black Sea Coast.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Bulgarian-licensed doctor to join our team in Varna. This is a
unique position to work as a patient advocate and health navigator assisting a vulnerable
population. The people we support are typically registered with a General Practitioner, thus
this role focuses on health monitoring, medication support, and patient advocacy, including
summarizing patient conditions for translators to support communication with their primary
doctor. You will be supported by our Balkan coordination team as well as our German back
office team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide part-time medical care and observation to refugees, primarily seniors.
- Act as a bridge between our patients and the Bulgarian health care system.
- Assist with medication management and health monitoring.
- Summarize patient conditions to support translators in advocating for patients with their General Practitioners.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and well-being. Participate in data collection and analysis, reporting any issues.
Requirements
- Valid medical license in Bulgaria with two years experience. Valid license to practice
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Ukrainian/Russian recommended.
- Ability to work in a flexible, humanitarian setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with common medications and chronic disease management.
Recommended / Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in refugee or humanitarian healthcare.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and trauma-informed care.
