We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Communications & Media Officer to help promote WWF's conservation efforts by organising the media relations, publishing content on the website, and assisting the project work from communication’s perspective. As a member of the Engagement and Resource Mobilisation team, the role also contributes to the organisation’s overall goals, including fundraising campaigns and corporate engagement initiatives.
The job holder will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing the media strategy, plan, and day-to-day media activities for WWF-Bulgaria, including drafting press releases and news stories, managing media partnerships, organizing media events, and coordinating other activities, in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
- Organising, monitoring, and reporting on WWF-Bulgaria’s media work in cooperation with Conservation project managers and the Finance and Administration Department.
- Working closely with colleagues from the Communications department to combine media relations with other communication activities.
- Preparing and publishing content for the website, including news, interviews, blog articles, and other editorial content.
- Managing work on other media formats such as external broadcasts, podcasts, videocasts, and reportage videos.
- Participating as a communications and media expert in the development of new project proposals, and in planning, coordinating, and reporting on communication activities within WWF-Bulgaria projects, helping to shape communication strategies, timelines, and deliverables.
- Participating as a media expert in resource mobilisation projects with individual and corporate donors.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Higher education – university degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience on a similar position and experience in working with media, communication campaigns, crisis communications
- Experience in NGO marketing would be considered as an advantage
- Excellent command of written and spoken Bulgarian and English
- Very strong communication skills (written and spoken), ability to create effective and impactful content
- Good skills for creating and editing web content
- Very good computer, including working with mobile devices and website management skills
- Good organizational skills and teamwork
- Creative and strategic thinking
- Ability to work under pressure (tight deadlines) and positive attitude
- Interest and motivation in the area of nature protection
- Alignment and identification with the core values of WWF: Courage, Integrity, Respect and Collaboration and the relevant behaviors.
