Background

Humans in the Loop is one of the leading examples of social entrepreneurship in Bulgaria. Recognized by Forbes, MIT Solve and Expo Dubai 2021's Innovation Impact Program, we are successfully combining a strong business model and a high-impact social mission. We are a hybrid social enterprise providing employment and training opportunities to conflict-affected people in Bulgaria. The social enterprise is comprised of:
HITL EOOD, a registered for profit organisation through which we offer freelance employment opportunities in image annotation for the AI industry to conflict-affected people such as asylum seekers and refugees in Bulgaria, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Yemen.
Humans in the Loop Foundation, a registered not-for-profit organisation through which we offer training programmes to upskill conflict-affected people. We are currently looking for a new Training Coordinator for the Humans in the Loop Foundation.

Location:
Hybrid; Our main office is at 97 Knyas Boris I St, Sofia, Bulgaria. There will be the opportunity to do some work from home.

Salary:

2000 BGN gross per month.

Hours:
40 hours per week, schedule to be agreed with line manager.

Line management

The Training Coordinator reports to the Director of the Humans in the Loop Foundation, and directly manages the Annotation Trainer.
Primary responsibilities
The Training Coordinator, reporting to the Director of the Humans in the Loop Foundation, will have primary responsibility for overseeing the organisation’s training programmes.
 
Tasks:

  •  Managing existing training programmes including HITL Stars (IT and English skills), HITL Business Stars (marketing for entrepreneurs) and HITL Teenagers (digital science course for teenagers).
  • Using a community development approach to identify the most useful and relevant training courses to deliver to our beneficiary group, and developing new training offerings.
  •  Identifying, recruiting and providing line management support and supervision to freelance trainers and assistant teachers/translators, including support in preparing curricula, participating in monthly classes.
  • Line managing the Annotation trainer and overseeing basic annotation skills trainings and bootcamps in Bulgaria and (remotely) in partner countries (Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Yemen, Ukraine, Portugal).
  • Working with software developers to oversee the development of Humans in the Loop’s training platform
  • Uploading and managing course contents on Humans in the Loop’s training platform.
  • Creating and updating structure and content for new and existing courses.
  • Ensuring that all relevant materials for each course are uploaded in order to build up a portfolio of useful resources for future students and teachers.
  • Liaising with professional videographers to create engaging online training videos.
  • Working together with the Community Manager to support individual trainees with career counselling and matching skills development programmes to existing need.
  • To oversee recruitment of training participants, including advertising programmes and prioritising beneficiaries based on clear criteria
  • Maintaining attendance records and information about those who successfully complete programmes, and preparing certificates.
  • To line manage and support interns and volunteers assigned to support the training programme.
  • To ensure that all trainers and volunteers are trained on, understand and follow HITL’s safeguarding and protection policies and procedures.
  • Leading on MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) related to training courses, including surveys, interviews and focus groups. Collecting data in line with GDPR, and providing information for reports and statistics on a regular and ad hoc basis, and to contribute feedback to project development.
  • To be committed to personal professional development, including maintaining up to date knowledge and awareness of developments and innovations in online learning, refugee education programmes and so on.
  • To develop relationships with other relevant organisations and vocational training centres.
  • Supporting the Director with fundraising proposals.
  • Working collaboratively with all colleagues and providing any other support for HITL programmes as requested by the line manager.
 
Person specification:

Essential
1.    Socially oriented and committed to the values of Humans in the Loop.
2.    A background in education, training or IT.
3.    Experience of organising workshops and trainings
4.    Experience of planning and reporting activities
5.    Good command of both Bulgarian and English.
6.    Good communication and interpersonal skills
7.    Patience, flexibility and emotional resilience
8.    Organised, reliable and committed.
9.    Good computer skills and confidence in using online content management and video conferencing.
10.    Commitment to safeguarding and protection issues.

Desirable:
1.    Arabic or Farsi language skills.
2.    Experience of people management or volunteer coordination
3.    Financial management and fundraising.
4.    Competent with social media.
5.    Experience using Wordpress.
